W dniach 12-14 września odbyła się konferencja Living According to Nature: Historic and Contemporary Perspectives. Wydarzenie zostało zorganizowane przez Instytut Filozofii oraz Centrum Badań Interdyscyplinarnych i Filozofii Kultury, a obie instytucje reprezentował zespół: dr Eli Orner Kramer, dr Karol Morawski, dr Monika Woźniak. Obrady odbywały się w trybie hybrydowym – stacjonarnie (w budynku Instytutu Filologii Angielskiej) oraz za pośrednictwem platformy MS Teams.
Choć ważnym wyjściowym punktem odniesienia dla konferencji były prace Pierre’a Hadota – w szczególności publikacja "The Veil of Isis: an Essay on the History of the Idea of Nature" (Belknap 2006) – to tematyka wystąpień wykraczała poza dorobek francuskiego filozofa. Referaty poruszały zagadnienia od filozofii przyrody, przez filozofię nauki, historię filozofii, etykę (w tym etykę środowiskową), filozofię polityki, antropologię (w tym transhumanistyczne reinterpretacje człowieczeństwa), aż po psychoanalizę. Wykłady plenarne wygłosili prof. Simone D’Agostino (Papieski Uniwersytet Gregoriański w Rzymie) oraz prof. Matthew Sharpe (Deakin University, Australia). Konferencja zgromadziła również badaczki i badaczy z Portugalii, Stanów Zjednoczonych, Wielkiej Brytanii, Chin i Polski. Instytut Filozofii UWr był reprezentowany zarówno przez przedstawicielki i przedstawicieli kadry, jak i przez doktorantów.

On September 12-14 the University of Wrocław hosted the Living According to Nature: Historic and Contemporary Perspectives conference. The event was organised by the Institute of Philosophy and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Philosophy of Culture, represented by the organising committee: Dr Eli Orner Kramer, Dr Karol Morawski, Dr Monika Woźniak. The sessions were held in the hybrid mode – on-site (in the building of the Institute of English Studies) and online (via the MS Teams platform).
An important starting point of reference for the conference was the work of Pierre Hadot, especially his book "The Veil of Isis: an Essay on the History of the Idea of Nature" (Belknap 2006). However, conference papers covered a much broader area, with the topics ranging from the philosophy of nature, through the philosophy of science, the history of philosophy, ethics (including environmental ethics), political philosophy, anthropology (including transhumanist reinterpretations of the human condition), all the way to psychoanalysis. Keynote lectures were given by Professor Simone D’Agostino (Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome) and Professor Matthew Sharpe (Deakin University, Australia). Other participants included researchers from Portugal, USA, UK, China and Poland. The Institute of Philosophy of the University of Wrocław was represented both by its faculty members and PhD students.
